Jane s'entretient avec le Dr Secondine Gnintoungbe, chef de l'unité de soins palliatifs et d'hémodialyse du CHD Abomey, au Bénin. Secondine est présidente de l'Association béninoise de soins palliatifs (ABSP). Leur conversation a bénéficié de l'interprétation de Sylvia Dive. Spécialiste en santé publique et en soins palliatifs, Sylvia possède une formation d'infirmière et une vaste expérience en soins palliatifs, notamment au sein de la communauté. Elle coordonne les missions francophones d'Hospice Africa Uganda, qui aident d'autres pays africains à intégrer les soins palliatifs dans leurs systèmes de santé, tout en militant pour un meilleur accès aux opioïdes à des fins médicales et de recherche.

Jane talks to Dr Secondine Gnintoungbe, Head of the Palliative Care Unit and Haemodialysis Unit at CHD Abomey, Benin. Secondine is President of the Benin Association for Palliative Care (ABSP). Their conversation was supported through translation from Sylvia Dive. Sylvia is a public health and palliative care specialist with a background in nursing and extensive experience in palliative care, particularly within the community. She coordinates the French-language missions of Hospice Africa Uganda, which help other African countries to integrate palliative care into their health systems, while advocating for better access to opioids for medical and research purposes.

Jane talks with Peace Bagasha and Renee Krause about their paper published with colleagues Sara Davison and Nicola Wearne last year in the Annals of Palliative Medicine. 
Dr Peace Bagasha is Clinical Head of Nephrology, Mulago National Referral Hospital, Kampala, Uganda and nephrology course lead at Makerere University. 
Associate Professor Renee Krause is Head of the Division of Interdisciplinary Palliative Care and Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine, Community and Emergency Care at the University of Cape Town and convenor of the postgraduate diploma in Palliative Medicine

Jane is joined by Diana Nabunje Lubega, Software Engineer & Project ManagerMRT IT PEAKS LIMITED, Kampala, Uganda along with team members Patrick Kitenda Njuki, Ndawula Micheal, Ssemirembe Ronald, and Rukundo Ivan, and Professor Matthew Allsop from the University of Leeds, part of the winning team of the African Palliative Care Radical Innovations Challenge 2025.
They outline the background, design, functionality and testing of their winning entry - the mPallCare app - an innovative mobile and web-based application designed to enhance palliative care for patients and healthcare professionals.
